NAOMIS, in Mongolia for the realisation of an information system platform
Naomis
NAOMIS is completing the implementation of the Information System platform
platform for the HSDP (Human Settlements Development Program) project for the Ministry of Construction and Urban Development (MCUD), in Mongolia. This
development programme for Mongolian cities and villages aims at formulating new provincial socio-economic and spatial development plans and at improving policies and tools to support a more green,
competitive and sustainable urban development.
Mongolia has a population of 3 million people for a surface area equivalent to 2.5 times that of mainland France, with a population density of 2 inhabitants per km². Half
of this population today resides in the capital, Oulan-Bator, while the other half is essentially nomadic. This means that there is an
imbalance from an urban point of view between the capital and the secondary cities as well as overpopulation in Oulan-Bator which is saturated and has difficulty providing some of the essential services (transport, sanitation, water, etc).
The objective of this HSDP program led by Groupe Huit, a sister company of the Keran Group, is to revitalise Mongolia's provinces and cities and to restore a balance in the distribution of the urban population. The web application developed by Naomis is both the showcase and the main digital tool for the project. It provides visitors access to the many demographic, urban and economic indicators, presenting them in the form of graphs and maps layers. Both private and public users can create their own maps and charts to aid their understanding of Mongolian region and the investments needed there.
